The Easiest Chic DIY Glass Tile Coasters

Was anyone else totally swept away by the tiling phase over the past few years? I know it’s died down a little, but I’m still pretty obsessed with tiling anything I can get my hands on! (You should totally check out my aesthetic tiled desk if that’s also your vibe.)

My favourite take on the trend, though? It’s gotta be glass tiles for me! There’s just something so fun and *expensive* about them.

(Although they can quite literally be quite expensive – not to mention, hard to find! Home Depot sometimes sells affordable 12″ x 12″ $9 sheets, but I couldn’t find any to link to while writing this post. Sorry x x )

Now, today’s post is possibly the easiest introduction to DIY tiling that there could be! So easy, in fact, that it basically doesn’t count. (Namely, because I had no actual tiling equipment to hand so this is really a cheat.)

These stunning coasters are cute enough to keep – but they’d also make great gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season.

What You Need:

• Glass mosaic tile sheets – the type we used was 12″ x 12″ square mosaic tile sheets
• Plaster/joint compound
• Hot glue
• Pre-cut wood squares

How To Make:

1. Cut your mosaic tiles into individual pieces and hot glue in place on your wood backing.
2. Once dry, use a plastic scraper to spread a thin layer of plaster diagonally across your glass tiles.
3. Use a wet tissue or cloth to wipe off the excess plaster from the tiles and leave to set.

And that’s it! This craft is super simple but the result is stupidly gorgeous.
