follow along as I turn our bland, unloved bedroom into… well, we’ll see by the end!
Our room is very small – as in large enough to fit a mattress and not much else – so storage space is a limited commodity. After seeing videos of storage mirrors on Pinterest, I realised what a clever idea they were and figured they’d be a great way to store my jewellery and skincare.
There are definitely more modern options available but, as my partner and I love thrifting, I wanted a mirror that had a slightly vintage feel to it.
2. For Some Cosy Decor, I Thrifted A Marble Side Table
Well, I did say we love thrifting!
Almost immediately after setting up the storage mirror, my partner and I found this marble side table and brought it home with us. Honestly, I’m not sure that I love it (originally I’d been thinking more along the lines of a pretty chest of drawers) but, as it’s a really small distance between the bed and wall, having a smaller table makes the overall bedroom less claustrophobic while still giving me a little surface area for *trinkets*.
3. To Give The Room A Pop Of Colour, I Found These Super Pretty Duvet Covers
In my entirely uneducated opinion, I think a great decor tip for small bedrooms is to embrace funky bedsheets! The beauties are from Eleanor Bowmer and they’re silky soft, not to mention stunning. Such a fun way to add some colour into my room for summer.
In all honesty, they’re a little bright for me – for some reason, I had the idea that the print was a little duller and more orange? But still- the design is super pretty and they’re a fun addition to our bedsheet rotation.
(Also gave me a ton of inspiration to design my own bedsheets in the future . . . we’ll come back to that idea!)
4. At This Point, The Ridiculous Urge To DIY Some Art Took Over Me?
Now, I don’t know who told me this was a good idea, but I’m suing them for damages.
Per the video, I was toying with the idea of changing this art around slightly but was also paralyzed by the fear of making something okay into something terrible. So. Watch this space I suppose?
(As in, watch this space for about 5 more paragraphs – I actually finished the art! If you’re surprised, imagine how I feel.)
5. On The DIY Train, I Also Made A Fake Cake Trinket Box
Does this craft look a little familiar to you? Well, you may remember it from my DIY fake cake kit review post. (Yes, you should check that out- how did you know?)
Originally, I didn’t love how this turned out but it’s definitely grown on me – plus, it was a fun way to add some extra storage into my room.
6. Aliexpress Has A Death-Grip On My Bank Account- AKA, I Added Angel Light Switch Covers
No, this wasn’t necessary. Yes, I recommend it anyway.
One of my favourite tips for organising small spaces is hidden storage. I employed it with my mirror and our bed is sticking to that theme!
It was a little larger than anticipated but, once we got over the initial shock, it actually makes the room feel really cosy. (And it’s the most convenient hidden place for suitcases!)
Best of all, this bad boy was cheap. This whole bedroom makeover was pretty low-budget as my partner and I try to practice sleep hygiene by spending very little non-bed time in the room.
