because planning is only fun if it’s cute, right?
Like a lot of people, I love to travel. The organisation that goes into a trip, though . . . Less my thing. As a Brit living in Australia, I have doomed myself to large trips semi-regularly to visit home, like the five-week visit I have coming up in July, so I needed a bit more of a system than a random Pinterest board and a bunch of Facebook messages.
Enter: a digital planner!
Now, I love me a planner – be that a physical bullet journal or a Milanote board. However, I’m definitely of the opinion that different purposes suit different mediums. Using a bullet journal to plan a five-week trip, for example? Probably not going to work for me. A digital planner that can be amended, shared and reworked? That sounds more up my alley.
If you’re more of a physical planner, all of these travel planner sheets were designed on A4 paper so you can print them!
So. I got to designing and made myself the cutest travel planner. Let’s go through the setup!
My Digital Travel Planner Flick-through
Here’s a quick overview of the entire pack I made (I use Goodnotes when using this planner, by the way). I’ll show you guys a page-by-page breakdown and how I’ve used it so far too!
Page 1-2 – Cute & Customisable Opening Pages
The opening two pages are some cute graphics to get you excited! (Even if the planner is digital, it needs to have a pretty cover. I don’t make the rules.)
You can add your name to the second page and a little photo of yourself on one of your past travels.
Page 3 – Travel Bucketlist
This is exactly what it says on the tin – a big ole list of the things you want to see before you die! I duplicated this page in my setup to give myself extra room because my list is extensive.
Page 4 – 5 Cute Trip Planning Graphics
On page 5, there’s space for you to list:
- Trip # of the year
- Trip destination
- Who you’re going with
- When you’re going
Page 6 – Trip Overview Page
The next page is a big–picture glance at your trip where you can note down important details like layovers and dates, before you get into the real nitty-gritty.
Page7-8 – 2x Activity Planning Templates
I included a few templates for noting down activities – one is a visionboard-style page where you can copy/paste images in. The other is a list-style page with different headings for excursion types, like food, shopping, and day trips.
here’s an example of one of the pages filled out
Page 10 – Travel Budget
Possibly the most important (and most boring) part of planning a trip is the budget. I included a detailed budget sheet to help list out expenses and keep track of finances.
Page 11 – Travel Packing List
If you’re anything like me, packing is a stressful activity that you usually fail at. I don’t think there’s been a single trip where I haven’t arrived at my destination and not realised I’ve forgotten something incredibly important. It’s a skill, really.
Don’t be me. Use a travel packing list to get organised!
Page 12 – Pre-Travel Checklist
Page 13-14 – Free-Form Note Pages
My brain sometimes needs space to just dump – so I included a lined note page and a dot grid one. These pages are great for getting general ideas out that aren’t quite plans yet.
Page 15-17 – Detailed Itinerary Pages
Next up are my super detailed itinerary pages for day-by-day trip breakdowns. We haven’t got our days set yet, so I haven’t started filling these out, but it’s going to be really useful to have a plan when I’m finalising budget things.
Page 18-20 – Memory Pages
Naturally, you want to remember each trip you take – so I had to include some memory pages with space for notes and photos! There are three templates you can edit, duplicate, or delete depending on your preference.
Page 21 – Outfit Planner
I will 100% be using this when I’m doing my packing list! It gives you space to plan two outfits per sheet (one for day and night), with prompts to include the weather forecast of the day and a checklist with items to add to your packing list.
How I’ve Used My Planner So Far
